Most interesting. Both Chautauqua concepts — fixed venue or circuit — are a good fit for Muskoka. A Chautauqua circuit would perhaps even better suit Georgian Bay: 8 towns on an 8-week summer circuit: Parry Sound, Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Midland, Collingwood, Owen Sound, Wiarton

The whole story of Chautauqua in the US and Canada is most interesting, but somewhat different. The Wikipedia article focusses on the US. For a summary of the Canadian story, try http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/articles/emc/chautauqua. For the fuller story, I recommend “Chautauqua in Canada” by Sheilagh S. Jameson, published by the Glenbow Museum (1987).
